How To Object
Every objection matters. By submitting your own response, you ensure your concerns become part of the official planning process and must be considered by the Local Planning Authority. A well-reasoned objection helps demonstrate the strength of local feeling and highlights the planning issues that matter most to our community.
The Planning Application Has Not Yet Been Submitted
A formal planning application has now been submitted for up to 110 homes on Land North of Cockreed Lane, New Romney.
The application reference is 26/1476/FH and residents can now submit official comments and objections to Folkestone & Hythe District Council.

How to Submit an Objection
The planning application is now open for public comment. Follow these four simple steps to submit your objection.

Find the Application
Visit the Folkestone & Hythe District Council planning register and search for:
26/1476/FH – Land North of Cockreed Lane, New Romney
You can then view the full application and submit your comments online.

Review the Proposal
Read through the plans and supporting documents to understand what is being proposed and how the development could affect the site and surrounding area.

Prepare Your Objection
Write your objection in your own words, focusing on relevant planning matters such as highways and pedestrian safety, landscape and environmental impacts, infrastructure and planning policy.

Submit Your Response
a) Comment online
Open the Comment tab on the planning application page and complete the online form.
b) By Email
Send your objection by email to:

Include the following:
- Application reference: 26/1476/FH

- Your full name
- Your postal address
- Your objection and the reasons for it
c) By Post
Your letter should include the application reference 26/1476/FH, the application name Land North of Cockreed Lane, New Romney, your full name and address, and the reasons for your objection.

Planning authorities usually publish representations on their planning portal. Personal information is handled in accordance with their privacy policies, but your comments may be publicly available as part of the planning process.
You should normally submit one clear, well-reasoned objection setting out all of your concerns. Submitting multiple objections from the same person does not usually give your views any greater weight.
If new information comes to light during the consultation period, you may be able to submit additional comments or update your original representation. Check the guidance provided by Folkestone & Hythe District Council once the planning application is live.
